An Experiment in Starting Over

“I decided to start anew, to strip away what I had been taught.”

Dice

For the record, I am not a gambler.

On second thought…. I have taken a few risks with career choices. I’ve also made some relationship choices that others considered risky. Or even crazy.

Perhaps I only gamble with the big things and play it safe with the small things.

Whatever.

Tomorrow I am taking a leap. Most people would think it’s a small leap, but for me… It’s definitely not small.

After consistently exercising with advanced strength-training programs of varying degrees, I’ve decided to hit the “reset” button and start over as a beginner. Well, maybe not a total beginner, but close enough.

Tomorrow I’m going to begin Day 1 of a program written by Amber Rogers (“Go Kaleo”) for beginners called “The First 100 Days”. If I start tomorrow (February 17), I will finish May 28… Just in time for summer.

This will be an experiment. No doubt about it. It will be less time spent exercising, at least in the beginning, than I am used to. The program includes walking/cardio and weight training and starts with three days a week of exercise.

I may add a little extra walking, if I feel like it and have the time.

The good news is this — I don’t have to do more than the program dictates.

Amber is very clear in her statement that the program is for beginners. I am definitely NOT a beginner. However, I am an almost-57-year-old woman who has begun to dread/procrastinate/struggle-to-find-time-for her workouts. I realize it is most likely because it’s been a long, dark and cold winter, but the result is still the same.

I need a change. I also need to a workout plan, for the time being, that doesn’t add more stress to my life.

But that’s another story for another day.

And just for the record, I have miss blogging. Very much.

That too is another story.

We can catch up in the days ahead. All 100 of them.

Go for it…and do some for me LOLOL!!!

  2. Unfortunately, Stevie, this program is so low key that I’m not yet convinced there’s even enough exercise for ME… Let alone you and me both. 🙂
